Getting around

There are many ways…

to get around in The Netherlands

The public transport system is very elaborate, with trains and buses taking you everywhere you want to go, and a metro network in some of the bigger cities.

Many people own a car, more and more of which are electric, with charging points readily available.

You will find though, that a lot of people move around on a bike. There are almost 23 million of them, around three per household!

We can help you!

By car

If you own a car you love and would like to bring it, we can make the arrangements for you.

Should you choose to buy or lease a car here, we can point you in the right direction.

Also, when you live here, you will need to convert your license to a Dutch one, get car insurance and – in some cities – a parking permit.

By bike

Of course you can buy a bike, shops are everywhere. Or you can lease one, including maintenance and insurance. If you want to find out first if you feel comfortable riding a bike in traffic, then rent one! We’re happy to help you choose, or to get you into a course to learn the specific rules to make you feel safe.
